Gloria B&W
Gloria Freitas

When creating my work, I mix my thoughts and ideas with tall tales and facts into an organized melody of deep shadows and bright hues.

Originally from Hawai’i, I am most inspired by a good conversation or "talking story.” Any connection I can make with another individual tends to set free my imagination. Elements of many cultures and mythologies I grew up with and were exposed to influence my focus.

My subjects usually lean towards a variety of creatures, both found in reality and in dreams.  I have been known to shine a light on threatened and endangered species in hopes to encourage others to learn more about them. I hope to create artwork that takes the beauty of our natural world and places it into scenes of my imaginings.  From apples on fishing hooks tempting monkeys of the sea, and undesired habits explained by bizarre gremlins, to flora and fauna becoming one, a loud echo of those deep shadows and bright hues stay front and center.
